RoomScan

Walk the flat and sweep the walls. Get a measured shell — walls, doors, windows, cabinets and permanent fittings, with their colours — as a plan, an OBJ and a design file.

How to get an accurate shell

  1. Move before you capture. Hold the phone up and walk a few steps first — AR tracking needs parallax to lock on. The status dot on the scan screen turns green when the pose is trustworthy.
  2. Sweep the walls, don't hunt for corners. A wall is a large surface that stays visible above the furniture; a floor corner is usually hidden behind a bed or a wardrobe. Aim at each wall around chest height and let it lock on. Corners are then computed from where the walls meet, which is why a full room measures as accurately as an empty one.
  3. Get every side. The bar across the top fills as new directions are found. Three sides is the minimum, four closes a rectangular room.
  4. Mark the openings after the room closes, not before — doors, windows, and for a balcony, the railing. Two taps on opposite corners of each.
  5. Capture what is built in — kitchen platform, sink, washbasin, toilet, wardrobes, lofts. Loose furniture is ignored on purpose; it gets designed later.
  6. Walk to the next room without leaving AR. Tap Next room at the doorway. Every room lands on the same building grid, so the flat stays square as a whole.

Scans are stored on this server as an append-only journal. The plan is derived from that journal every time — so the geometry can be re-solved with better maths later without re-scanning.
